In our Hot Yoga studios you will find classes that offer a high level of intensity and focus. Disciplined, dedicated practice, self study and spiritual openness are the acts of yoga.
The yoga postures or ASANAS, are designed to work internally and externally. Internally, improvements to the heart, spleen, kidneys, liver, and intestines are realized through consistent practice. Externally, the joints, muscles, tendons, and ligaments are all made stronger throughout. In hot yoga classes, the average person burns 400 – 650 CALORIES in an hour. In a strong Vinyasa, Barkan or Bikram class, between 600-850 CALORIES are burned, depending on how hard you work!
As in all forms of yoga, the mind is strengthened through the discipline of yoga practice, which helps to alleviate stress, depression and anxiety. Yoga calms the mind, quiets the brain’s chatter, and brings about a deep relaxation response. Through the mindfulness that is practiced in yoga, you can begin to find peace and serenity that are often elusive. Yoga helps us deal effectively with the difficulties of everyday life and to fully experience moments of joy.
As we strengthen the body and calm the mind, we open ourselves up for a transformational experience. Many of us have experienced pain and searched for answers. The path of yoga is a path of self discovery. The intention behind the yoga practice is to balance the body, quiet the mind and nourish the soul. You can leave behind that which held you back and discover your true self, realizing everything you need is already there. The answer had been inside all along.
